Rejuran vs skin boosters: which treatment suits your skin?
Rejuran and skin boosters can both improve skin quality, but they work in different ways. Rejuran uses polynucleotides and is mainly focused on skin repair, texture, fine lines and longer-term skin-quality support. Skin boosters usually use hyaluronic acid and are mainly focused on hydration, smoothness and a fresher-looking glow.

The right choice depends on your skin concern. If your main goal is hydration, skin boosters may be more suitable. If you want to address skin texture, thin skin, acne scarring or gradual skin-quality improvement, Rejuran may be more relevant.

A qualified practitioner should assess your skin, medical history and expectations before recommending Rejuran, skin boosters or a combination.

Rejuran is often chosen when the skin needs repair and texture support. Skin boosters are often chosen when the skin mainly needs hydration and a fresher appearance.

What is the difference between Rejuran and skin boosters?

The biggest difference is the treatment focus. Rejuran is mainly used for skin repair and skin-quality support. Skin boosters are mainly used for hydration and moisture balance.

Both treatments fall within injectable skin-quality treatments, but the active ingredients and expected results are different.

Rejuran: skin repair with polynucleotides

Rejuran contains polynucleotides, often shortened to PN. PDRN is sometimes mentioned in the same treatment category, although it is not exactly the same. These ingredients are discussed in aesthetic medicine for supporting skin repair, texture and resilience.

Rejuran is often considered for fine lines, skin ageing, uneven texture, thin skin and acne scarring. It may sometimes be described as a type of skin-quality injectable, but it is not the same as a classic hyaluronic acid skin booster.

Read more about Rejuran polynucleotides if you want to understand how this treatment category works.

Skin boosters: hydration with hyaluronic acid

Skin boosters usually contain hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid attracts and holds water in the skin, helping the skin look smoother, fresher and more hydrated.

Skin boosters are often considered for dry skin, dullness, early dehydration lines and skin that feels less supple. They are not classic volume fillers and are usually used for skin quality rather than facial contouring.

Is Rejuran better than skin boosters?

Rejuran is not automatically better than skin boosters. The better option depends on your skin condition and treatment goal.

Rejuran is often considered for:

  • acne scarring;

  • fine lines;

  • thin or delicate-looking skin;

  • uneven skin texture;

  • reduced elasticity;

  • skin that looks less resilient;

  • longer-term skin-quality support.

  • Skin boosters are often considered for:

  • dry skin;

  • dehydrated skin;

  • dullness;

  • reduced glow;

  • early dehydration lines;

  • preventative skin-quality treatment;

  • skin that feels less supple.

The real question is not which treatment is better overall, but which treatment suits your skin concern.

Which treatment is better for acne scars?

Rejuran is often more relevant for acne scarring than a classic hyaluronic acid skin booster. This is because Rejuran is more focused on skin texture, repair and gradual quality improvement.

Not all acne scars respond in the same way. A practitioner may also discuss other options, such as microneedling, laser or combination treatments, depending on the type and depth of scarring.

Results: which treatment works faster and lasts longer?

Skin boosters often create a faster visible change in hydration and freshness because hyaluronic acid attracts water. Rejuran usually works more gradually because it is focused on skin-quality support over time.

Which gives faster results?

Skin boosters may show a fresher, smoother or more hydrated look sooner. Rejuran may take longer to show visible improvement because results often build over a course of treatments.

Which lasts longer?

This varies by person, product, skin condition and maintenance plan. Rejuran is often chosen when the goal is longer-term skin-quality support. Skin boosters may be repeated when hydration and glow start to fade.

Factors that can affect how long results remain visible include:

  • age;

  • skin condition;

  • sun exposure;

  • lifestyle;

  • skincare routine;

  • treatment area;

  • maintenance treatments.

Read more about how long Rejuran lasts if you want more detail about Rejuran specifically.

How many treatments are usually needed?

Both Rejuran and skin boosters are often planned as a treatment course. A starter course may involve several sessions, followed by maintenance if needed.

The exact treatment plan depends on:

  • skin condition;

  • age;

  • treatment area;

  • product choice;

  • treatment goal;

  • previous treatments;

  • how the skin responds.

A practitioner should explain why a specific number of sessions is recommended and what realistic results you can expect.

What can go wrong with Rejuran?

The most common reactions after Rejuran are usually temporary and may include redness, swelling, small bumps, tenderness, bruising or visible injection marks.

Serious complications are uncommon, but injectable treatments still carry risks. Contact your clinic if you have worsening pain, unusual skin colour changes, signs of infection or symptoms that do not improve as expected.

Read more about Rejuran side effects and Rejuran recovery for a fuller explanation.

Cost: Rejuran or skin boosters?

The cost of Rejuran and skin boosters depends on several factors, including:

  • clinic;

  • product used;

  • treatment area;

  • number of sessions;

  • treatment plan;

  • practitioner experience;

  • aftercare included.

Rejuran may cost more overall if several sessions are needed to build gradual skin-quality improvement. Skin booster costs can also vary by brand, area and treatment course.

Do not compare treatments only by one session price. Compare what is included, how many sessions may be needed and whether the clinic gives clear aftercare advice.

Can you combine Rejuran and skin boosters?

Yes, Rejuran and skin boosters can sometimes be combined. This may be relevant when the skin needs both hydration and repair support.

For example, a practitioner may discuss skin boosters for hydration and Rejuran for texture, fine lines or acne-scarred skin. The order, timing and suitability of both treatments should be decided after a consultation.

A combination is not automatically better. Sometimes one treatment is enough. Sometimes another treatment may be more appropriate.

How to choose a suitable practitioner or clinic

Choosing between Rejuran and skin boosters starts with a proper skin assessment. A qualified practitioner should look at your skin quality, treatment area, medical history and expectations before recommending a treatment.

A consultation may include assessment of:

  • skin thickness;

  • skin texture;

  • elasticity;

  • scarring;

  • hydration level;

  • skin ageing;

  • previous treatments;

  • medical suitability.

  • When comparing clinics, look for:

  • experience with injectable skin-quality treatments;

  • a clear consultation process;

  • realistic explanation of risks and results;

  • transparent cost information;

  • good reviews;

  • clear aftercare;

  • appropriate practitioner training and experience.

I had the most amazing experience getting my skin booster treatment with Dr Laura Geige at It’s Me and You Clinic. From the moment I arrived, the whole experience felt professional, welcoming, and really personalised. Dr Laura took the time to explain the treatment in detail and made sure I felt completely comfortable and informed before starting.

The procedure itself was quick and surprisingly comfortable, and the results have been incredible. My skin already looks more hydrated, smoother, and noticeably more radiant. I have had so many compliments on how fresh and glowing my skin looks!

Dr Laura is not only extremely knowledgeable but also genuinely cares about achieving natural, beautiful results. I could not recommend her and the team at It’s Me and You Clinic more highly. If you are considering skin boosters, you are definitely in the best hands here!

Thank you again Dr Laura. I will definitely be back.

I recently visited London Lip Clinic for full face rejuvenation ahead of my 40th birthday, and I’m genuinely so happy with the results.
Rupesh was very thorough during the consultation, looking at my facial structure, skin quality and overall balance. He is clearly very knowledgeable and medically trained but also so friendly and easy to talk to, which made me feel completely at ease, which is exactly what I wanted.
He used dermal fillers from the Revanesse range, which are known for causing less swelling and inflammation while still giving very natural looking results. In total he used 7 syringes to lift my cheeks and mid-face, define my jawline and chin, soften the lines from my nose to mouth and the lines around my mouth, and subtly enhance my lips. The result is fresh and lifted but still completely me.
He used both cannula and needle techniques and explained everything clearly, so I felt safe and confident throughout. The aftercare has been great too.
If you’re considering full face dermal fillers in London, especially on Harley Street, I would definitely recommend London Lip Clinic. Professional, natural results and a really positive experience. Show less »

I’ve been seeing Dr Jane Moon at Dr Moon Clinic for around 6 years now, and every single time I leave feeling genuinely impressed. Her attention to detail, precision, and natural aesthetic judgement are second to none.
Over the years I’ve had anti-wrinkle injections (Botox) and dermal fillers for my nose and cheeks, and the results have always been subtle, balanced and beautifully executed. I consistently look refreshed and well-rested, never “done.” In fact, I honestly look better than I did 10 years ago, and that is entirely thanks to Jane’s skill and expertise.
She takes time to assess your face holistically, explains everything clearly, and never over-treats. What really sets her apart is her refined Korean approach to aesthetics; focusing on skin quality, balance, and natural regeneration rather than obvious volume. The results are elegant, harmonious, and incredibly natural.
If you’re considering any injectables, including Botox, dermal fillers, polynucleotides, or Sculptra, I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Dr Moon Clinic is exceptional and I highly recommend her for subtle, sophisticated results! Show less »
